UX/UI Product Specialist

Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC)/ DHAP Division of HIV and AIDS Prevention    

As a UI/UX Specialist Leader, I was part of a year-long effort to create a fully functional MVP prototype for distributing allocations to fund the CDC. Despite the unique circumstance of having limited engagements with the users, I established a successful design methodology that relied on my experience and knowledge of application design and development. With a deep understanding of open-source frontend frameworks, I created a customized design system that followed best practices and allowed us to build a coherent brand identity for the portal of applications. I also implemented an agile design process that enabled us to complete backlog items and manage timelines for deliverables, ultimately leading the product teams to a successful outcome.

The financial tech portal we created was responsible for distribution and tracking funding through multiple departments. We delivered a very elegant and efficient by following core fundamentals and keeping the system simple. Although user testing was minimal, I could gather user feedback in untraditional ways through collaborations with business partners, stakeholders, CDC SMEs, and thedevelopment team. The outcome was a solid system that allowed users, managers, and directors to plan and distribute available funds allocated.

My successful leadership experience in implementing UI and UX design for financial Tech portals makes me a strong candidate for design manager roles. My hands-on design role placed the entire design process in my hands, which meant making hard decisions and relying on my experience. Through my leadership, I was able to elevate the brand identity and create a robust design system that was able to hand off documentation, limited user data, and artifacts.
